Keith Wilson is a photographer, filmmaker and cinematographer based in San Francisco and Austin, Texas. His films have screened at the Berlin, London and South by Southwest Film Festivals and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. His recent photography work will be exhibited at the Fort Worth Modern Art Museum in the Fall of 2010 and he is the photographer and art director for, Apocalypse Cakes, a satirical cookbook to be published by Running Press in the spring of 2011. He has a Master of Fine Arts degree in film production from the Radio-TV-Film Department at UT-Austin.

Digital Camera Basics Boot Camp

DAY 1 SATURDAY, September 11th, 2010 10 AM-5 PM

  • Introduction to the workshop
  • Camera handling and exposure: Basic principles. Choice of ISO.
  • Shutter speed, aperture, depth of field. Problems with exposure measurement.
  • Camera exposure modes: Automatic, Semi -automatic and Manual.
  • Illustrated brief on practical exercise 1
  • Shoot practical exercise 1
  • Digital darkroom: Photoshop CS. Downloading images, production of contact sheet and slide show.
  • Analysis of group images
  • Illustrated lecture: Camera exposure modes: Aperture priority, shutter priority, manual.
  • Recap basic theory of photography

DAY 2 SUNDAY, September 12th, 2010 10 AM-5 PM

  • Visual communication: Essentials of composition and aesthetics
  • Illustrated brief on practical exercise 2
  • Shoot practical
    exercise 2
  • Downloading images
  • Digital darkroom: Photoshop CS. Image adjustment and correction
  • Analysis of group images
  • Recap of theory
  • General discussion and questions
  • Closure and presentation of certificates of attendance
